Champagne Bureau
The Champagne Bureau (CIB) represents the Comité Champagne, a semi-public body set up under the aegis of the French Government to co-ordinate the common interests of wine growers and producers in Champagne. Among its key duties are the promotion and protection of the Champagne appellation around the world.
Françoise Peretti is the Director of the Champagne Bureau and acts as spokesperson for the CIVC in the UK. The Champagne Bureau acts as the point of contact for traditional and online media, provides consumer and trade tastings; educational programmes; press visits to Champagne and hosts the world’s largest Champagne Tasting each year in London. It also runs the Champagne Ambassador’s Award UK where wine educators from all over Europe compete for the title of Best Champagne Educator 2011. It has been a pleasure for the Champagne Bureau to conduct educational Champagne training sessions for Searcy’s Champagne Bars staff.
Riedel
Riedel is the creator of the world’s finest wine and spirits specific glassware. Family run for over 300 years, Riedel has an unquestioned pre-eminence in the world of wine glass design and a growing reputation as makers of outstanding glass tableware.
Riedel is steeped in a rich history of design innovation, but the real turning point was in 1961 when Claus J. Riedel first applied the philosophy “form follows function” and created the world’s very first grape specific range. Ignoring the age old trend for elaborate glassware that paid no attention to the taste of the wine and with the artistry of Europe’s best glass blowers, he changed the direction of the entire industry for good.
Champagne is the drink for celebration and to fully enjoy it, Riedel has created specific glassware to match the different styles. The 2011 trend for Champagne decanting, pioneered by Riedel and championed by Searcys, has created a buzz in the industry as not only an elaborate show piece, but by the distinction between un-decanted and decanted Champagne being unmistakable.

We are delighted that in two years running Le Marquis de Marillac has been selected as the house Champagne for Searcys Champagne Bars. The house champagne is selected by the Searcys team at an annual blind tasting.
